Wilco built this sprawling park in Chestermere this season. This is a big, big site: basketball courts, playground, and a huge lawn space. Crews planted 150 trees throughout the site and built the pathway connecting to other phases and running alongside the existing acreage homes to the south. Challenges involved dealing with the severe water restrictions this summer in the Calgary area, including Chestermere. Wilco brought our 50’ water tanker from Saskatchewan just for this purpose, to fill up with recycled storm water, set up temporary irrigation, and use the tanker as the water source. GPS grade control equipment was used to shape the drainage course through the centre of the lawn space and ensure proper flow. This equipment also lightens the burden on our survey team, and lessens the amount of revisits and grade checks required. Wilco’s efficiency with our big roll sod crew helps us knock off 15,000 m2 of sod in just a matter of days.
