Royal Oak is set against a maze of steep ravines and treed natural areas, perfect for wandering the small trails out your backdoor. The new condo/townhome development increased the demand for a good access from the top down to the bottom of the slope to get to the trails safely. Wilco cut our way down the slope, switchbacking with a small excavator and shaping the grade. Timber stairs on concrete pile foundations were constructed, with trail mix gravel pathway connections and timber retaining walls to hold back the slope. Wilco’s carpentry crews framed up the structure and fit it into the existing slope skillfully, avoiding any unnecessary disturbance to the grade or removal of vegetation. The biggest challenge here was the steep slope and working to minimize disturbance outside of the footprint – we wanted the finished product to look like it had been there for 20 years with the willows growing in around it. Our team is capable of taking on any construction challenge, no matter the size or scope.
